The Korea Association of Human Development Guidelines on Preparation of the Manuscript

1. The manuscript in English should be saved as a MS word file or a Hangul (HWP) file and should conform to the formatting instructions provided in the submission guidelines.
   • MS word format
     The page margins of the manuscript must be as follows; top: 50 mm, bottom: 50 mm, left and right: 35 mm, header: 37mm, footer: 38mm.
   • Hangul (HWP) format
     The page margins of the manuscript must be as follows; top: 20 mm, bottom: 55 mm, left and right: 35 mm, header: 13mm, footer: 12mm.
   • Excluding the title, author’s name, affiliation, abstract and keywords, the text should be written in a two-column format.
2. The abstract at the beginning of the manuscript should be prepared in English and an extended abstract at the end of the manuscript should be prepared in Korean. The abstract should be written in 9-point Times New Roman font and not exceed 200 words in total. There should not be any indent at the beginning of the text and should be written in a single paragraph. Keywords should be within 5 words and listed after one blank line from the end of the abstract. The keywords should be written in italics, using a 9-point Times New Roman font for English and a 9-point Medium Gothic Type font for Korean. The title of the manuscript and personal information of the author (e.g. name, affiliations) should also be provided in Korean.
3. The body of the text must be double-spaced (including references) in 12-point Times New Roman font with pages numbered consecutively, centered at the bottom throughout the entire paper. The manuscript should contain the following in this order: I. Introduction, II. Method, III. Results, IV. Discussion and References.
4. Tables and figures should be saved in a format that is compatible for plate printing or created to allow for easy re-modification (For graph, the coordinate values should be stated). Tables should be provided with the title which is placed above the table (e.g. Table 1. Number of average reminiscent responses by condition). On the other hand, figures should be provided with captions placed below the visual display. Tables or figures cited in the main text should omit brackets (e.g. In table 1…., In figure 1…). The table should be concise and vertical lines should not be used unless necessary.
5. Citations in the main text should appear as follows:

   • When citing work(s) from one or two authors, all the authors’ names should be written each time you cite the work.
   • When citing work(s) from three, four or five authors, list all the authors for the first time you cite the source. In subsequent citations, only use the first author’s last name followed by “et al.”.
   • When citing work(s) from six or more authors, the first author’s name followed by et al. should be written for the first citation and thereafter.
   • In case of re-citation, write it as follows. Re-citation should also be included in the reference section.

6. For the reference list section, references cited in the text should be listed in alphabetical order according to the last name of the first author. Please refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition) for more detailed guidelines. The following illustrates the format to be used.

7. Research support institution, poster publications, thesis and dissertations, acknowledgement, and etc. should be denoted with an asterisk (*) and further details provided in the footnote of the same page.
8. Title of the manuscript and the author’s personal information (name, school and department) should be stated in both Korean and English in the format as follows:

9. Footnotes are strongly not recommended unless there is a need to. If footnotes are used, indicate the footnote number at the end of the sentence and corresponding description should not exceed more than 5 lines.
10. Chapters and sections of the manuscript should be presented in the form of I., 1., 1)., (1)., and ①.
11. The first author and corresponding author should be denoted with footnote numbers and affiliation, designation and email address of the authors should be stated at the footnote on the same page as shown in the example below. In the presence of co-author(s), the first author should be listed first.

12. For theses and dissertations, the name of the authors should be listed in the order of the first author followed by the academic advisor.
